Button Up Shirt Workshop

Button up shirts are complex, but they don’t have to be scary! In this class, you’ll go step by step through the process of making a classic button up shirt (using a pattern of your choice) and learn tips for plackets, collars, yokes, and more!

  • how to thread and use a sewing machine

    basic sewing vocabulary

    sewing a straight line and maintaining a seam allowance

    hemming

    basic seam finishes

    cutting and following a pattern

  • using the burrito method to enclose a back yoke

    assembling button and sleeve plackets

    assembling a collar

    setting in sleeves

    buttons and automatic buttonholes

Taught by Jen Boender

Ages 18 and up.

Our classroom is on the second floor and is currently only accessible by stairs. We are working on a solution to make our space accessible to everyone.
