Mending is one of the best ways to make your wardrobe more sustainable and make your favorite clothes last longer. In this class, you’ll learn how to do a classic woven darn while mending one of your own garments. This class will be focused on darning flat garments, such as sweaters or pants, rather than socks.

This class assumes you are comfortable with a sewing machine and understand how to use a commercial apparel pattern.
Use a pattern copied from your own Tee-shirt in a previous class or from a basic commercial Tee-shirt pattern and modify it to create different styles.
Basic hand stitching techniques are an integral part of fine sewing. Hand stitching gives you maximum accuracy and control for marking, basting, hemming and finishing. Grab a needle and thread and stitch along as Marla shows you how to do six basic hand stitches.
Learn the basic mechanics of pants fitting, transferring adjustments to a new pattern block, and how to use that to adjust future commercial patterns or create modifications to realize your own designs
In this course you will take the pattern of YOUR favorite pair of pants and make a muslin mock up to fine tune the fit before creating your final pattern that is an exact replica of your pants.
